"Scottish Science 5-14 Stage 1" provides material for teachers and pupils of Primary 3 classes following the science component of the Scottish National Guidelines for Environmental Studies 5-14. The teacher's resource book contains three science study units, each made up of four related topics. The three-page layout outlines the skills strands and attainment outcomes addressed under each topics and provides material for teachers who may be unfamiliar with the subject matter. All topics are cross-referenced to the official Scottish Guidelines for Science. The teacher's notes accompanying the assessment workbooks are also included at the back of the teacher's resource book for reference. The picture book contains 12 colour picture cards with references to the guidelines and points for discussion printed on the reverse so teachers can refer to them while using the cards with pupils. Three of the assessment workbooks are associated with the three Science Study Units in the teacher's resource book, and the fourth is a special skills assessment workbook focusing on the development of skills. A 24-page set of teacher's notes accompanies the assessment workbooks to help teachers maximise their use.
