Babar returns! The famous king of the elephants triumphs again in Jean de Brunhoff's last picturebook classic, Babar and Father Christmas. This beloved story has been translated into nine languages and has never been out of print since its first appearance in 1940. The original, sumptuous, oversize edition with the inviting hand-scripted type fell victim to the high cost of production and shortage of paper during World War II. None of the oversize Babars had been available for about forty years, until facsimiles of The Story of Babar (1984), The Travels of Babar (1985), and Babar the King (1986) were published.

Now, with this stunning companion Christmas volume, children can once again climb into what rare-book collectors call the "big Babar" and see King Babar bring Father Christmas to the elephants' country for a special holiday treat.
