This interpretation does not lack the classic romance and adventure we expect from the story. The illustrations are beautiful and the architecture depicted is accurate for the time and place of the setting. The hairstyles and clothing is representative of England and the nineteenth century. The curly hair and floral attire create the romantic environment for Beauty and Beast’s love to grow. Even the buildings, from the cottages to the castle with its archways and columns are accurate for the setting. The mosaic tapestries foreshadow and give clues to the mystery of the castle.
