She's separated from her two younger half sisters, and is struggling to take care of herself and at times her mom as well. If you liked PIctures of Hollis Woods, then read this.

Schneider Family Book Award 2009 winner for middle grades ages 9-13. Our main character is Addison, a girl in 6th grade. Her mother and step-father have divorced. She has two little sisters from their marriage. Addison is struggling with dyslexia and a dysfunctional mother. This book is a page turner. You clearly see the role reversal between the adult and the child with the child taking care of the adult. Addison is a character that you can't help but love. This story is told so completely with the emotions and thoughts of the child, that I felt like I really knew them. Excellent book for kids identifying with dysfunction. It has a happy ending and the main character grows with empowerment. It tells the story without being too dark. If a child has a fear of abandonment this might not be the book to read.
