This is the first book in a series of four which progressively build up skills and consolidate learning through a range of practice exercises. Each book contains learning pages and practice pages. The learning pages provide: guidance on spelling patterns and word structures; word lists organized into visual and phonic groups, with arrows emphasizing the difficult words; contextual sentences to aid understanding of each word; and activities giving practice in the use of helpful spelling patterns. The practice pages provide a variety of puzzle-style activities based on the preceding word lists. Information, tips and mnemonics are included and there are suggestions for consolidation and extension activities. The practice tasks cover a range of skills and give useful practice for SATs. The series can be used to provide extra support for lower ability levels.
