It should come as no surprise that spunky young Aussie Henni Octon had a sequel in her. How could this 12-year-old possibly stop writing after she and her pals exposed her shifty neighbors' scheme in 45 & 47 Stella Street and Everything That Happened? Equally spunky Aussie Liz Honey has brought back the whole gang from that fun book for another adventure in Fiddleback, but this time the Stella Street crew is "going bush"--five kids, seven adults (including one very pregnant one), and a determined little dachshund, all thrown together on a woolly camping trip into the Outback.

Honey once again captures her charming protagonist's idiosyncratic voice with plenty of jovial dialogue, chaotic action, and the occasional illustration or handwritten note to God (Henni really does have a lot on her mind). The large cast can get a little complicated, but ultimately helps to set the sometimes frenetic pace on this event-filled trip. And you've got to realize that Henni doesn't write about just any old outing: you can bet that the initial excitement over setting up tents, skinny-dipping, and games of Spoons and Pop Bango (you'll see) will only heat up, as all sorts of emergencies arise regarding ill-behaved tree poachers, food-stealing teenagers, and unexpected torrential thunderstorms.
