These cassettes accompany all of the stories in the "Livewire Chillers Pack A". Pupils can access the material on cassette first before approaching the text on the page, and feel more confident about choosing more challenging stories. The cassettes aim to allow the pupil greater independence, as they can listen to the cassette while reading on their own. They also aim to foster more enjoyment and motivation as the stories are brought to life by the voices of the actors. The stories have been designed, with the help of the Basic Skills Agency, for maximum readability and are aimed at struggling teenage and adult readers with a reading age of below ten and studens for whom English is a second language.
