This text covers the core units of the Level 2 awards in child care and education, and the endorsements on feeding babies, caring for babies and working with parents in a group for young children. It also covers the requirements on child care of GNVQ/Level 2 in health and social care. Each of the nine chapters deals with a particular area of child care, with a wide variety of activities to help put the principles into practice. The language is straightforward, and issues of gender, cultural and racial awareness in caring for young children are handled sensitively and practically. The book gives a sound basis of support for trainees at NVQ/SBQ Level 2, and lays the foundation for training to Level 3, as covered in the companion text by the Lindons, "Caring for the Under-8s: Working to Achieve Good Practice".
