This nonfiction picture book aims to teach children how to behave safely around dogs and thereby hopefully reduce the risk of being bitten.

The text takes children through a series of situations in which it would be inadvisable to pat a dog, and then teaches them how to pat a dog correctly and how to deal with situations in which dogs can get out of control.
