It’s expanding and daylighters are trapped in its web. All of Bixby’s history is incomplete. Everything they thought they knew is threatened when certain facts come to light. The darkness in Rex terrifies the group. Is Rex who they thought he was or is he becoming something else? Can the midnighters save the people that will be in the rift of constant midnight? The group jockeys to find a solution and come to the realization that some people will die, but they plan to try to save as many people as possible. When midnight descends on Halloween the group unfurls their plans. There are more darklings than they realized. They are stronger, too.
