I was born in a small mountain community in Virginia. My most memorable days were spent with my grandmother; taking care of all the animals she had and harvesting and canning food. I loved school growing up, until I reached 10th grade. I dropped out because I didn't want to take government. I married at the age of 16 and had both my children by the age of 20. I received my GED in 1986 and went to a community college where I majored in Drafting and Design. I had to drop out at the end of the first year for the lack of a babysitter. I like to sing,write, play music and paint. I didn't know I could paint until 2004 when my uncle asked me to try and paint some murals in a museum he was building. My first ever 14' X 14' painting was of deeply snow covered mountains. I actually stood back in awe of myself. My uncle added rocks and branches for the foreground along with stuffed bobcats. I ended up doing six more murals in the museum. The largest being 14 feet tall by 20 feet long by 10-12 feet wide. Today I am enrolled in GCU Online for a bachelors in Elementary Education. I live with my husband of 13years, my 24 year old daughter, a five-year-old grand daughter, three-year-old grandson and an 18 month old grand daughter.
