I have written several children's books that I'd love to have published- the most recent being the story of "Sally Circle" who lives in a world of straight lines and just wants to be accepted in a narrow (and narrow minded!) world. I would LOVE any feedback about how to go about getting it published (I'm a first time author). How do I get in the door with a publishing company? Would it be best if I find a literary agent? Would you recommend any for first time authors with a picture book? It would mean the world to me if you could help. Thanks so much!

Like many others, I have written several books for young readers. I am interested in getting some professional feedback, as so far my friends and family are the only ones to have read my books. Of course, they love them- but then, they love me too! I have two re-written and two finished that need re-writing and two more in the ready-to-write stage.

I write for kids and wanted to explore the oppurtunity of getting the work published through your organisation.
The manusript for the poetry book for kids is titles as, A-Z of Animal poems.
It has 50 poems on domestic, wild and endangered animals. The poems are descriptive by nature, with no difficult words. The poems are detailed sketches of animals where facts about them are presented in a more interesting way! The poems are easy to remember because of the simple language used. The poems have been written keeping in mind the target audience (4-8years), hence it retains the fun learning part of it.

The main idea behind these poems is to make children more sensitive and caring about the natural world and the animals, which are an integral part of the world.
I would like to hear from you on the same and how I could take it forward.

I'm not sure exactly how this all works but other people seem to be telling you about their books and desires to get published so I thought I would too, hope you don't mind. My children's book was a gift for my daughter for her first birthday, she was a preemie. The book is about a little girl who was born early and is early everywhere she goes from then on. Sometimes it works out well for her, sometimes it doesn't and sometimes it even gets her in trouble. I then gave it to my daughters NICU as well as other hospitals in Massachusetts. I have had alot of positive feedback and have decided to try to make it accessible to more people. I'm a licensed psychotherapist besides being a mom so I added a clinical section about the NICU and preemies all from my daughters perspective in hopes that it will be a good tool for parents, teachers and therapists to use with siblings of preemies. Anyway, would love for you to check it out and let me know your thougths. Thanks!

Hi, as an aspiring children's author I get very frustrated trying to get my work published. More and more publishers and agents are not taking on looking at unsolicited manuscripts. I've taken several children's writing course. My tutors have told me my work is at a level fit for publication. My tutor with The Academy of Children's Writers told me one piece I sent in was the most original work he had seen for a long time. I have been encouraged to seek out a publisher for much of my work. Yet doors keep closing and hope keeps fading. I find a great publisher, such as yourself, I look through their catalogue to see if my work fits the list, then I read Not Accepting submissions or something similar. Please, any advice would be great. Taking a look at some of my work would be better.
