About Stephanie

I've been an author of picture books for ten years. My first YA novel , The Compound, was released May 2008 and my second The Gardener came out June 2010. My latest picture book A Small Brown Dog With a Wet Pink Nose came out from Little Brown in January 2010. I have an MFA in writing and do domestic and international school visits.

1/29/2013On Goodreads and Thick Skin and Sheep
A while ago, my husband and I were hanging out and he said, "You know what? I never thought about this before, but you have to deal with a lot of crap. You have way thicker skin that I ever thought you did."  He then went on to tell... Read the rest of this post

Also I wanted to say congratulations on your novel. As a picture book writer who is writing her first novel, I am in awe. It has taken me forever and I've learned a gazillion lessons along the way.

Thank you, Stephanie. How do you like teaching at Gotham? Do you teach picture book writing? Don't you think that every time we teach, we refine our own process quite a bit?

17 books! I've got some catching up to do. I'm really looking forward to reading your novel, too. Great cover.

I looked you up on a map. My mom grew up in Warrens, just south of Humbird. My sister went to UWEC for a little bit, so I've been kind of near your town. It'll be nice to get to know you through this site.
