About Susan

Recently I won the Lillian Shepherd Memorial Award for Excellence in Illustration for my paintings in Up Home. Up Home was also awarded the Best Published Book Award (Atlantic Book Awards, 2009) I am currently working on another story by Shauntay Grant, the author of Up Home. Hi Susan,
I just heard one of the books you illustrated won the Alberta Children's Book of the Year Award. Free as the Wind, by Jamie Bastedo and published by Red Deer is BEAUTIFULLY illustrated, the horses and Sable Island are so real. The family is warm and genuine -- and I love the dog... more

Love those Preston paintings! Especially the family reunion. I think this is your best work.
