I am an aspiring artist-illustrator-author, born Canadian, part New Zealander with a side of Scottish decent, whose spent a good portion of my life pursuing the arts.

Art is a form of personal growth, inspiration & expression for me. For as long as I can remember art, in one form or another, has always been a constant in my life from early school days to adulthood. I have always explored various mediums of artistic expression. An opportunity then presented itself at the end of high school to work at the National Postal Museum assisting in ink drawings and silk screening for a Canadian stamp. After completing a 2 year Graphic Arts Technician program at Algonquin College, I found myself working in the print industry.

Over the years, I attended the Ottawa School of Art taking sculpture and drawing. While always expressing myself through some artistic form or another, mostly self-taught, such as experimenting with wood carving, paper-tole, papermaking, photography. My interests in theatre would eventually lead me to a place called Centrepointe Theatre. Here I worked as one of the backstage crew on a number of productions, mostly with sound and lighting. My love of gardening, landscapes and outdoors is always an inspiration to me too!

In the last ten years now, I've been expressing myself through traditional art with drawing again, using coloured pencil and graphite. Currently I am working with acrylic paint on stretched canvas creating an array of paintings of many portraits (including local musicians), landscapes, abstracts and still life.

I've always loved children's books and grew up with many and had so much joy reading them to my son when he was young. One of my all time favourites has to be "Hairy MacClary from Donaldson's Dairy" by New Zealand author Lynley Dodd, such a fun & delightful book! So I decided a few years ago to explore the wonderful world of illustrating children's books. Since then a good portion of my time this past year has been spent taking Will Terry's Digital Painting course & Mark Mitchell's "Make Your Marks - Make Your Splashes" children's illustration drawing & watercolor course while working on illustrations for several new children’s books.
