About Sue Ellen
I'm an "Old School" illustrator: I do it all by hand. I have nothing against computers, but I love creating a physical piece of art. Nothing on the screen is better than the hard copy in hand.
My illustrated work is mixed media: over the pencil sketch I shade with graphite, then add layers of color, washes of acrylic either by airbush or sable brush. Then I continue to finish with regular brush... More

Hi, Sue Ellen,
Your work is outstanding. In my opinion, true talent is based on 'by hand'. Anything learned after that is icing on the cake! The brother and sister picture is absolutely beautiful.

Hi Sue:
There's is alot to be said for doing things the old way. I've fought it for years but finally gave in and color most of my editorial work on the computer. I think watercolor is best for childrens books, to me it captures more of the eccence of childhood. I love your work!
