About Sarah
I am a freelance writer and landscape designer specialising in community food growing projects. I also provide research into small/medium-scale biogas production.
I recently completed an MSc in Architecture: Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies. My thesis investigated the potential for small/medium scale biogas in transitional settlements and I continue to research this subject.
I see the localisation of food production and, where appropriate, integrated biogas production as essential to a sustainable future with the following benefits:
• food security and improved nutrition
• improved energy security / reduced dependency on firewood
• free organic fertilizer / reduced dependency on mineral phosphorous
• reduced dependency on fossil fuels in transport and domestic energy
• reduced carbon emissions
Kite flying is one of my passions and The Creative Book of Kites was written as a response to running kite workshops in schools and communities. Most of my writing these days is about urban food growing and clean renewable energy.
