Publisher Information

Francis Group Garland Publishing

Founded in 1969 by Gavin Borden, Garland is an independent scholarly publisher. Publishing some 450 new books each year, we have nearly 3,500 titles in print at present. Garland started by publishing reprints of eighteenth-century literary criticism: In the late 1970s, we began to focus on the need for single- and multi-volume reference materials and in 1983, we began publishing leading-edge scientific textbooks. Identifying niche markets and publishing high-quality books have been Garland's formula for success. In 1997, Garland Publishing joined the Taylor & Francis.
