Rebecca North Young has written 4 books of monologues for young actors and 2 books of plays for middle school actors. Regarding her inspiration for the 400+ monologues so far, she says, “I have three girls, two of which are still teenagers, one just barely out of that age range. It’s all about comedy and tragedy around my house. Believe me, there’s not much else in between.” Friends and family (she won’t dare say who), television, and just a plain old overactive imagination help Rebecca create a wide array of monologues to choose from. Rebecca currently works in a totally “non-dramatic” profession as a technical trainer in Lexington, Kentucky. She has a BA in Communications/Marketing from the University of Kentucky. Young lives with her husband (Frank), three wonderful and dramatic daughters (Heather, Kristina, and Ashley), and two cats: Todd and Jorg (don't ask). Whether you are an actor or a writer, she suggests this quote as a daily mantra: “You aren’t finished when you lose; you are finished when you quit.” Never give up hope.
