Hello. My name is Nancy Rae Mallery and I write children’s books about wilderness fun and education for children, ages 3-8 as well as many just fun books, but I like to make it enticing to learn, be it the great outdoors or math, science, animals, the night sky... I live on a solar powered farm in Vermont, attempting to be as self-sufficient + make as little a carbon footprint on this earth as I can.
I teach and educate children (and adults), about wilderness appreciation, safety and conservation during guided hikes in the Vermont Green Mountains. I have raised three children of my own, in the woods of the Adirondack Mountains, instilling in them an appreciation and knowledge of nature and love for this earth we all are so privileged to live on. I have found the interest and excitement of children, learning about nature, to be truly inspiring. This has led me to develop a series of children’s books on this and other similar topics. I am excited to be able to share this fun way to learn about nature with many children.

I have many plans to further children’s education of the natural world, with an emphasis on teaching children to be aware of their surroundings included in future books

All of my books can be set to easily sung melodies, as I often sing them as I write them.

You can join me on day or weekend hikes for education, enjoyment or retreat.
