I am the director of Libros para Niños (Books for children) an ngo located in Nicaragua, Central America. For fifteen years we have been working in Nicaragua and other central american countries to get children "hooked" on books and reading. We create spaces in which children can experience reading without the restrains of academic activities. We call it "free reading".

Five years ago, we began a publishing project to foment the production of children's literature in Nicaragua and other central american countries. We organize workshops for writers, ilustrators and editors. We organize an annual literary contest and an ilustration contest. We publish an average of six books every year (in Nicaragua it's a lot!!), we print 2,000 books of each title, 1,000 we donate and the other 1,000 we sell to keep the project going.

This year the publishing project will become a non profit publishing company.
