About Joe
During high school, I worked at a summer camp in northern Michigan where I learned to ride and eventually taught campers basic horsemanship. Summers up north represented a chance to escape the crowded confines of the Motor City's lower east side. Consequently, horses have always meant freedom and the rush of fresh air.
As a young man, I lived in Italy for a number of years, learning Italian, living with relatives in Sicily and traveling around Europe. I have spent a summer in Mexico and in Malta, visited Spain, Greece and the Holy Land and have ridden horses in a rain forest in Puerto Rico, around the pyramids in Egypt, in Tuczon and Taos, Encinita and Queretaro, Tamasopo and Tennesee.
I mostly write middle grade and YA novels about boys and horses. In a market driven by sci-fi and fantasy, my stories are a G rated throwbacks where boys are challenged to learn new skills, use their smarts to get out of trouble, cope with bullies and even connect with girls. Some titles waiting for a publisher:
Road Wrangler, Cowboys on Wheels
Rising the Waves, Lake Michigan Cowboy
TJ, City Cowboy
Can Do TJ
A Horse in My Kitchen
How I do
Ragazzo Quest
Tales From the Drake House Outhouse
