April Jo Young is a writer and illustrator who at one time owned her own portrait business, was a volunteer firefighter, was hired for a role on a soap opera, robbed at knife point, and once fell down a flight of stairs at a mall trying to look cool for some boys. Oh, she also traveled to Munchkinland to speak to the Lolly Pop Guild.
