Debi's career started at a very ripe age of five years old when she decided to have her own art show. She carefully drew many scribbles on a variety of paper and had her dad help her hang all these on their fence in the backyard. Her dad then created a sign stating "art show".
Debi waited patiently.
It was about that time the skies opened up and it started to rain, destroying all her artwork. Her dad, feeling terrible
about the weather, bought all her artwork for 2 dollars. Not only was that her first commissioned show, but the start of
a very wonderful career.
Debi graduated from the University of Kansas with a BFA in Commercial Art. Her focus was illustration, however that grew as she participated in an internship with a local design agency learning about the industry. Fortunate for her, she had a great mentor who took the time to teach her about the business.
From there, her work experience grew. She has worked as a Medical Illustrator for Washington University, Designer at American Recreation Products and Art Director at NorthPole. While attaining all this experience, she knew that someday she wanted to own her own company specializing in children's illustrations, graphic design and fine art.
The variety of work she handles has been extraordinarily exciting and fun, ranging from children's illustration for kids books, murals, concert stage designing to painting on furniture and licensing her own line of character art. To further her art career, she is a member of the St. Louis Artist Guild, St. Louis Watercolor Society, Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and The Best of Missouri Hands juried section.
Debi is a highly versatile, talented artist who creates outside of the box. The love of art is very apparent and will continue to grow as she works on more projects in the future.
