Originally from Willingboro, NJ, Mason Granger took his exceptional SAT marks & perfect score on the Math section of the NJ High School Proficiency Test and, rather than parlaying them into an ivy league scholarship, instead took them to Rutgers University to pursue a life of poetry. Once there, Mason infused academia into his creative writings, resulting in a style that both Einstein and Emerson would admire. Sweeping thru the collegiate poetry scene like a breath of fresh air, Mason hosted the campus open mic Verbal Mayhem for 3 years, eventually becoming the poet laureate of Livingston College. He's been described as everything from "brilliant" to "a sexier version of Barack Obama", but one thing's for sure- Mason doesn't just hope for change; he brings it. Seeking to expand the definition of 'what is poetry', Mason penned Food Fight, the soon-to-be-released debut installment of the trio's latest project Animayhem; combining their already vibrant poetry with even-more-vibrant illustrations & animation. It's easy to see that for Mason, just as for the rest of the Mayhem Poets, the best is yet to come.....

Picture Dr. Seuss kickin’ it with Mother Goose
While Maya Angelou spins hip-hop in the DJ booth
Mixing and matching beats
Whitman backspins with Keats
In walks Silverstein with Shel toes on his feet
Outside the lines grows
Langston Hughes of all shades waiting to superman dat prose

Van Gogh lends an ear, strikes an Edgar Allen pose
KRS-ONE asks, “Where’s Ralph Waldo?”
“Woop! Woop! That’s the sound of da police!”
Here comes Sting singing Roxanne over a reggae beat
Apparently, Emerson left
He couldn’t stay long fellow
Now Yo Yo Ma’s rockin’ Thong Song on the cello

From R.L. Stevenson to R.L. Stine
Birds of a feather together to goosebump and grind

Dante dips in Walden Pond to drop it like it’s hot
While Henry David Thoreau flows over peat rocks
C.L. smoothed over time
Past just surface, Kerouac’s stoned down to the lime
But stays on beat, can you dig that?
As William H. burrows down to underground rap
Dress code is lax, shoes unpolished
Even Marc Smith gets in with construction Tims to slam with Onyx

So what we’re building here is the honest progression
of poetry’s perception from Amish to Elroy Jetson
It’s Animayhem, an art/poet menagerie
So call a yellow vo-cab or hail a syn-taxi
Just get here!
By car, horse, or mule
This poetry evolution, they’ll HAVE to teach in public school
The fusion of classic with contemporary cool
