About Denise Lynn
Around 1997, I was inspired by my then 11-year-old Daughter, Erin, to write a children's book. So profoundly so that I cranked the manuscript out within barely a day's time! That was actually the easy part! Subsequently, having met with no success in locating the artist I was bent upon forming a liaison with, and being pregnant at the time with my 2nd Daughter, Elizah, first frustration, then duty soon eclipsed the project. I found myself hobbled, and it found itself shelved, which is where it has remained for the better part of the last 13 years. Presently, I find that I am hearkening to the slowly awakening aria of that cocooned ember, long deprived of oxygen, now giddily recalling it's voice. It is resuscitated and heralding this brand new day, as it commences to unfurl its freedom, launching forth and leaping upward as a winged flame! My shut-in desire now bursts forward, like an unleashed child after a storm, catapulting gleefully toward the most impressive of sidewalk pools. My being a lover of impactful children's books, I know that, as it is the nurse to whom the healing & wellbeing of the patient is largely attributed, it is the artist's illustrations that capture the attention, and ultimately captivate the reader enough to influence them to choose to give the book a chance. My yearning for that perfect anthropomorphic artist (à la Jerry Pinkney, Wallace Edwards or Graeme Base), the one who will breathe the crucial, all-sustaining Life's breath into my book is exponentially intensified with each passing day! I shall unturn no stone, undelve into no depths, unbend no corner, unpry into nary a nook nor cranny, in my quest to seek out such an artist! This conviction-bordering-upon-obsession is what has led me here to this community.
