Pat Perrin is the author of The Secret World of Unicorns and co-author of several published novels and dozens of books for educational houses. Her essays and stories have appeared in Reality Club anthologies and in READ and Appleseeds magazines. She usually writes in collaboration with her husband, Wim Coleman (and they've stayed married well over two decades). Some of their books have been translated into foreign language editions, taught in university courses, or recognized with national awards. Pat and Wim are members of International PEN.

Pat is originally from Virginia, where she exhibited visual art and taught art in the public schools. She and Wim have lived in Los Angeles, Portland (OR), Des Moines, and (for 13 years) in the Mexican town of San Miguel de Allende. Currently, they and their daughter, Monserrat, live in Chapel Hill, NC.
