Jeffery E Doherty's writing concentrates mainly in the area of children's fiction. He writes picture book texts, children's stories and longer fiction for children and young adults.

He has had works of poetry published in the Wiradjuri magazine of writing, poetry and short stories published in two anthologies; Infinite Anythings and Lost Left Socks and Writer's at the Raglan both of which he illustrated and co-edited. Sadly, both are now out of print.

Jeff is an accomplished artist. His preferred mediums include watercolours, charcoal, acrylics, pastels and more recently digital artwork. Like his writing, Jeff tends to aim the subject of his artwork toward children and animals.

Children and child welfare are both passions for Jeff. In his 20 year career as a police officer, much of his time was spent dealing with issues relating to young people. His work with young offenders, troubled and disadvantaged youth through the PCYC (Police & Community Youth Clubs) was recognised in 2002 when he was awarded the coveted Blue Ribbon Police Officer of the Year Award
