About Dr David
David Reiter is an award-winning poet and writer of fiction, and Director of IP, an innovative print and digital publisher in Brisbane. His fourth book, Hemingway in Spain and Selected Poems, was shortlisted for the 1998 Adelaide Festival Awards. His previous books include The Cave After Saltwater Tide (Penguin, 1994) for which he won the Queensland Premier’s Poetry Award. His book of short fiction, Triangles, was shortlisted for the 2000 Steele Rudd Award. Other works are The Gallery, interactive multimedia; Kiss and Tell, Selected and New Poems 1987-2002; and Sharpened Knife, a multimedia murder mystery. IP released his novel Liars and Lovers in 2003, and The Greenhouse Effect, a novel for junior readers, was published by Lothian Books (Hachette-Livre) in 2004 and is now being developed as an film. His theatre script, Paul & Vincent, was produced by 4MBS Classical FM, based on his poetry book Letters We Never Sent. He’s completed a full-length DVD film of Hemingway in Spain. Real Guns, and a children’s picture book. Global Cooling, a sequel to The Greenhouse Effect, was released in 2008, following by Tiger Tames the Min Min in 2010. His most recent novel is Primary Instinct, a satire on primary school education, and his most recent film is Nullarbor Song Cycle. David has been writer-in-residence at a number of places, such Bundanon (the Arthur Boyd property), in Auckland at the Michael King Centre, and most recently at the KSP Centre in Perth.
