Hi, I'm a writer in Anchorage and have published 13 books - all about archaeology, history, and prehistory. My only trade paperback is the Princeton Review's Archaeology Smart Junior (Random House, 1997), which is still around although it went out of print a couple years ago. On June 20 I had bilateral cochlear implant surgery and these bionic ears are giving me hearing after 40 years of being deaf... so life is not the same! I'm also doing all of the publications for the 2007 Bouchercon World Mystery Convention, and I'm a professional photographer and writer-editor in my day job. I've been married for 13 years to a man who grew up in Anchorage and who proposed only 3 weeks after meeting me - I had come to Alaska to do Archaeology workshops and fell down a cliff near Seldovia while videotaping the sunset behind Mt. Spurr volcano! I was stuck here, so fell in love, and moved here. We have a nearly-seven year old son.



I'm very close to my family, although we rarely see each other now that I live on the Left Coast and grew up on the Right (Maine)... but my brother works as an engineer for Nike, and so is just down the Left Coast a little more than 1,000 miles to Portland, Oregon...



I love reading and taking photos. I've been a speechwriter for a former President, a Congressional Fellow in the U.S. Senate, a public info officer for one of the National Institutes of Health, a Peace Corps Volunteer (Benin, W. Africa0, and have nearly 2 decades of work in the Federal government. We have many Alaskan adventures and Alaska is my life.
