Millrace

Millrace is a small publishing company, based on the edge of the English Peak District. We began in 1997 with just one book and our list has slowly grown. Our books are anything but run-of-the-mill. Most are lively, often eccentric and full of ideas and dry humour. Rather like our authors and illustrators in fact. You won't find books quite like these anywhere else. Their format is distinctive, too. They are small, attractive and made to last, for we believe they are books you will want to keep. �Small format hardbacks, they are a reminder of the standards by which books were once produced: fine paper, simple but elegant dustjackets, properly stitched bindings, carefully illustrated, often with specially commissioned drawings.� Kate Chisholm, The Spectator, Christmas 2004 The illustrations are mainly pen-and-ink drawings. Those on this site are by Colin Brash, Gerry Dale, Jane Droop, Robin Hidden, Robin Lawrence, Julia Matcham, Harold Riley, Rose Shawe-Taylor and Craig Smillie.
