Margaret Jane is the author of Summer on the Sun-Up, a novel of historical fiction for middle readers 8-12. She based the story on actual events she experienced while growing-up on a cattle and wheat ranch in the Klickitat Valley of Washington State.

Ms. Jones is an elementary school teacher. She likes to direct children’s theater and musical shows.

Ms. Jones taught in the states of Oklahoma, Virginia, and Florida. As a Fulbright Exchange Teacher, she taught in Yorkshire, England. She wrote Summer on the Sun-Up inspired by questions her students often asked, such as, “What did you do on your ranch when you were a girl before there were computers and television?”

A graduate of Washington State University, Margaret Jane Jones is married. Along with her husband, she is devoted to two children and four grandchildren, and divides her time between Florida and New Hampshire.
