About Madonna Jervis Wise
Madonna Jervis Wise has a passion for community. Her latest release is: “Wesley Chapel: Images of America,” published by Arcadia Publishing. The unveiling of Wesley Chapel history was a collaboration that involved over 30 interviews with pioneers and/or their descendants including the tracing and examination of original homesteads, tram roads, and ranches that were once free range. Her work has been endorsed by the Historic Preservation Advisory Board of Dade City, and incorporates contributions from throughout the area.
Madonna has been an educator and writer for all of her adult life, beginning with a newspaper column in her hometown newspaper called the Cougar Beat. She is the author of numerous curriculums, journal articles and federal/state grants. She authored a comprehensive history titled “Tapestry-Zephyrhills” and has written and published “Sam & Company” and co-authored “Kachina and the Bully,” and “Voices of History.” Another family historical collection is her book titled, “Wildcat Creek Kids,” a collection of tales from Depression era Indiana. She also wrote “Welcome to Dude Ranch,” for Florida Virtual School as an eighth grade test preparation course thematically centered on her own American Quarter Horse, Lark, and her love for anything equestrian. Other books include “Juanita in Blue,” a collection of Depression era recipes from her mother’s Indiana restaurant; and “Zephyrhills: Images of America” and “Dade City: Images of America” for Arcadia Publishing.
Serving as a school principal, teacher, counselor and district school administrator in three Florida school districts including Pasco County where she retired, has provided a backdrop for many stories. She received a B.A. from Taylor University in history and an M.S. from the University of South Florida in counselor education and school administration; and holds credentials as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Madonna is President of the Pasco County Historical Society and an active member of the Pasco County Genealogical Society, the Dade City Garden Club. She has been retired active member of the Chamber of Commerce in neighboring Zephyrhills as well as numerous civic groups
