Kelli Nash grew up on the banks of Rock Creek in Pasadena, Maryland. Living on the water for 20 years, she grew to love nature and the creatures of the wild. As a child, Kelli didn’t know how the experience of living on the water would influence her career as an illustrator.Her Big Brother, Little Larry, taught her how to fish and crab. Her Mom taught her how to swim and love the water!Her Dad taught her how to sail and row a boat...correctly.Her Golden Retriever taught her how to dive off the pier. One day she saw her mom sitting at the end of a pier drawing a crab and thought about how cool it would be to be able to draw. Kelli then taught herself how to draw! Since that time, Kelli developed skills as an artist that would reflect her memories of living on Rock Creek and the Chesapeake Bay. She graduated Cum Laude with a BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration from American Intercontinental University in Atlanta, Georgia. She also attended a summer session at UCLA for extra inspiration.Kelli’s first BIG project was a 37 foot mural-illustration of a freshwater wetland for Wetlands on Wheels! Environmental Concern, Inc. St. Michaels, MD. The children's book Olly the Oyster Cleans the Bay! came next. Her most recent project, a picture book, Jemma's Got the Travel Bug, written by Susan Glick, will be published the fall of 2010. “Jemma” is about the Maryland state reptile, a diamondback terrapin, who takes a trip of discovery. Kelli's style ranges from colorful children’s illustrations and graphic design to fine art. She works mostly in acrylics, watercolors & Adobe Suite. She is currently experimenting with digital art.
