About Kay
I'm a nonfiction children's writer. I write books for educational publishers. So far, I have 17 books published on topics ranging from ecosystems to military vehicles to plate tectonics. I'm also a fledgling boat builder. My husband and I are building a 70 foot metal sailboat, and I'm the welder! I also live with chronic pain, something that I strive to manage each day.

Before I went pro with my illustration, I was an herbalist.
I used to manufacture herbal remedies for a zoo in California for their camels and llamas...lol.
