Josh VanBrakle grew up in a home where telling stories was part of everyday life, so writing became a natural passion for him. His debut novel, the YA fantasy THE WINGS OF DRAGONS, got its start thanks to a writing workshop series by talented author and all-around wonderful person Shannon Delany. WINGS released in September 2013 and became a #1 best-seller in its category on Amazon, winning praise from readers and reviewers alike for its complex characters and fast-paced plot. Indie published through Arboreal Press, THE WINGS OF DRAGONS is currently a finalist in ForeWord Review's Book of the Year Awards for both fantasy and YA fiction. Josh is now wrapping up the sequel to WINGS and plans to begin contacting agents later this year.

When not writing, Josh works as a forester at an environmental profit in upstate New York caring for the New York City water supply. He also enjoys hiking, nature photography, kayaking, and generally being outdoors as much as possible.
