Erich Hoyt is a scientist and conservationist who has worked with whales and dolphins in Russia, Japan, Iceland, Canada, the Caribbean, Chile, Indonesia and many other countries. He has published 17 books for children, young adults and some for adults. Some of the published credits of Erich Hoyt include Whale Rescue: Changing the Future for Endangered Wildlife (Firefly), Riding with the Dolphins and the bestselling Orca; The Whale Called Killer. His book Creatures of the Deep won the award as Best Nonfiction Book of the year from the American Society of Journalists and Authors, Inc., in New York. His book on ants and the rainforest, The Earth Dwellers, was awarded the New York Library Association status of "Books to Remember" for the year 1996. it was widely and well reviewed by the New York Times and many other publications.
