Publisher Information
Ediciones de La Torre
EDICIONES DE LA TORRE is a small publishing house located in Madrid (Spain), but with great collaborators, both in and outside. Ediciones de la Torre was founded in 1975, based on a project of a cultural and social programme, but starting off in May 1976. We have published almost 400 titles so far. We understand publishing as a social function, and culture a germinating one, which offers ideas, knowledge and human creation that give us instruments to change our society into a living community. Readers are the essential element in the book process, because they make the creators' work live again and again. Our best friends are the authors, the creators, who can write the most beautiful literary forms. A rigorous criticism helps us to improve our work everyday and guides the readers. We consider bookshops the meeting point for readers and books to get to know each other. Therefore teachers and librarians' support is necessary to widespread culture and books. We are against illegal photocopying because it is against authors, royalties and everybody related to it. We are politically independent though socially committed, and it moves us to collaborate with different kinds of organizations and people. For example, 0.7 % of the gross profit goes to several development programmes in the Third World. We would like to be a reference point for those who love and believe in good books in the next century. If you are looking for good, innovatory, critical books, please have a look at our catalogue. You will find books on literature for youngsters (poetry, theatre, short-stories, and so on), pedagogy, Spanish and Latin American literature and essay, Nordic literature, comic
