Chung is an eclectic reader. His favourites include biographies and histories, but also span horror, humour, and in fact anything as long as the writing is interesting. He hates reading cookbooks, even though he loves to cook.

A self-proclaimed history buff, he is particularly interested in using historical accounts as a backdrop for his work -- fiction and non-fiction. Originally from Hong Kong, he moved to Canada when he was 17, and has lived and worked in different cultures since. He continues, however, to be intrigued by the duo Chinese philosophical streams (Taoism and Confucianism), which have so often informed his writing. He currently holds a tenured faculty position in a liberal arts college in Pennsylvania and lives in Maryland with his family.
