tellmemore said: It took me 2 years to research materials to write this book. I read current science, medical, and popular books. I read old and new science papers (science reports published in professional science journals), so I could comprehend how our understanding of the syndromes has changed in time. I interviewed scientists, doctors, and parents. I listened to recorded interviews of individuals with the syndromes and interacted with a few of them personally. I wanted to have a comprehensive perpective of the syndromes and bring it to my YA and adult readers in a clear, simple, but profound way. Here you will be introduced to many individuals with the syndromes and their typical behaviors. You will get the latest on what causes them, how to diagnose and treat it, and what are scientists doing now to improve our understanding. I have not forgoten the parents who have played a crucial role bringing awareness of the syndromes to all of us and whose efforts have translated into more research and support for the families. It is my hope that this book will help those who read it understand this mystery of the mind better and live and care for those affected in a more positive way.
