Catherine not only has the normal concerns that go with adolescence, but also the added stress of feeling torn between wanting to help and protect her brother with autism and wanting him to be normal and maybe not even in her life.
Cynthia Lord introduces another character with a disability to help Catherine learn to understand her feelings and accept her situation better. It is through her interaction with him that she can move forward.
Definitely a good book to read, and to use in schools.
