jaday said: The Awakening begins where The Summoning left off. Chloe Saunders ran away from Lyle house and was captured by the Edison Group. The home acted as a wayward home for teens, but the reality is that it’s a front for the Edison Group. Chloe learns all the kids are not only supernatural, but part of a scientific experiment. Chloe and Tory escape the clutches of their enemies and find Derek and Simon. With scenes of dead bats and a corpse becoming animated the book has the “Ooh gross, factor.” A friendship and bond are formed between the very surly Derek and Chloe, yet Simon is the one that ends up holding her hand. I found myself confused and wonder what will happen to these relationships in the next book. The plot is fast paced and exciting, but the characters don’t engage the reader. They come off a bit flat. Tory and Derek, secondary characters, have the strongest personalities. Once again when the book ends the reader is left with the feeling nothing is resolved. A series should leave some questions unanswered, but this book resolves few. I cautiously recommend the book. ☺☺☺
