When Shelby meets a bird sad, over its lack of supplies to make a new nest, she contributes newspapers and a ball of pink string. Trouble on Earth Day is a good book to open a discussion about the environment with children. Stemke’s tale will motivate them to open their eyes to ways they can recycle and reuse. Her book makes protecting the environment fun and easy. The teacher’s edition is a gem, full of activities, songs, craft projects, reading comprehension questions, and more. The bright illustrations by Kurt Wilken enhance the story and give each character an extra burst of personality. I highly recommend this book.
