hollyhadac said: I am a wildlife rehabilitator from Michigan, USA, who specializes in coyotes and has worked with coyote biologists and other researchers. I am appalled at the description in this book that coyotes "may watch the owner of a cat or dog. Coytoes can figure out the person's daily habits and schedule. They will wait until the pet owner is away from home. Then they come back and attack the pet." This has never happened and there is no research to show this! Dr. Jon Way, a leading coyote biologist in Massachusetts, USA, said, "That is pretty poor to say that and not accurate to say the least. This writer should then be petrified of dogs, given the statistics." Domestic dogs attack almost 5 MILLION people per year in this country, sending almost 800,000 to the hospital and killing almost 20 EVERY YEAR. We do have stats to prove that, from the CDC. This made-up "information" should not be printed anywhere, let alone in a children's book. This is exactly why I have researched coyotes as extensively as I have and why I have created a public talk to combat this type of sensationalism. I certainly didn't expect it anywhere else than a tabloid, not a children's publication. This book needs to be taken off the shelves and re-written.
