cathyreads said: This book makes learning about where honey comes from a real treat. A great title for the theme of seasons, as the book features how the honey production begins in the spring and follows it through harvest, explaining the harvest procedure in a kid friendly way - mentioning how the child in the story turns the centrifuge to spin the honey out of the honeycomb and "the air suddenly smells like flowers." This book is also a nice fit for themes of insects (obviously) and even predator/prey/food chain relationships since the book mentions wasps and bears who cause trouble for the bees and bee keeper at times. |
