I taught myself to read at the tender age of three; clearly I was destined to be a wordsmith. As such, I have authored several YA biographies, among them "Charlemagne," "Jimi Hendrix," and "Sean Combs" and co-authored "Coretta Scott King" and "Rosa Parks," all for Chelsea House Publishers. I have also written a number of publications about nature and gardens—"Grow a Hummingbird Garden," "A Little Book of Flowers," "Building Bat Houses," "Build a Bluebird Trail," and "Creating Habitat for Backyard Birds"—as well as "Taking Time for Friends," all for Storey Books. Additionally, I was a contributing writer to "Your Child and Your Adolescent" for the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, published by Harper Collins and "The Book of Women’s Health" for the National Women’s Health Resource Center (Morrow).

As an adjunct to my writing career, I'm also a freelance book editor and have worked with numerous publishing houses on virtually every genre imaginable, from historical romances and Edgar Award–winning mysteries to cookbooks and guidebooks.

When I'm not sitting at my computer, you'll likely find me reading (basically anything I can get my hands on, especially nonfiction), tending my gardens, hiking the woods with my adorable mutt (who peacefully co-exists with my two adorable cats far better than they co-exist with each other), or photographing the world around the upstate New York home that I share with my significant other.
