MoreOur books are well known in their respective subject areas and are sold world-wide, both to individuals and to institutions and libraries. Our editorial and sales staff at various conferences are always on the lookout for possible new publications and are very happy to meet new and existing authors to discuss any ideas you may have.
When preparing a book proposal, please follow our guidelines, otherwise we cannot consider it. Once we have received the formal proposal it will be discussed at one of our regular editorial meetings and, provided that the proposal is commercially viable and fits with our publication programme, we will forward it to a Series Editor. Click here for a list of our book series. Our series editors are highly regard academics in their respective fields. At this stage the editor may request a more detailed synopsis or sample chapters. If the proposal is accepted for consideration, the full manuscript will be requested for refereeing purpose. In addition to being reviewed by our Series Editors, manuscripts are often also refereed by an independent expert in the field.
Once the proposal is accepted, our Series Editors are happy to work with the author to produce a book that is the best possible version of what has been submitted. We have detailed author guidelines explaining how the manuscript should be presented which are sent to the author when the full manuscript is requested.
We have always been very proud of our good author-publisher relationship. Being a relatively small and family-run company with reliable and well-trained staff, authors have found dealing with MM/CV a very easy and friendly process. To quote an author of one of our books: 'being an MM author is like belonging to a family'.
The in-house editor responsible for the books in his/her series will guide the author through the production process. We consult our authors at every stage from cover design to marketing the book. Our production director is always happy to advise authors if they have any production queries. We are proud of our attention to detail which results in high quality books.
Multilingual Matters/Channel View Publications offers an international sales and marketing service.
Our sales and marketing office ensure that all books and journals receive comprehensive marketing through the appropriate channels. We see promotion of books and journals as a partnership between the author/editor and publisher and are pleased to work with you on any ideas you have.
Marketing of each book involves representation and sales at conferences, placing of review copies with relevant journals, direct mail campaigns, internet promotion including email marketing and inclusion on this website and notification to relevant organisations such as major booksellers and wholesalers worldwide.
Marketing of each journal paper involves inclusion on abstracting/indexing publications, epublishing on our ALPSP Learned Journal Collection and issues freely available to countries of low human development (as defined by the UN Human Development Project).
Subject catalogues are mailed each year to academics, faculty, professionals, bookshops and librarians internationally. An annual catalogue is also produced. In addition, many subject-specific mailings are undertaken each year.
We also have a team of distributors throughout the world who ensure that books are readily available. Click here for details.
If you have any queries about marketing or conference attendance, please contact Kathryn King; sales and distribution queries should be directed to Tommi Grover, email for both [email protected], or [email protected].
