Designing and creating the Traveling Trunks at Please Touch Museum, Philadelphia, involved a Teacher's Manual and a lot of writing for teachers and children about activities in the classroom and fun ways to use the materials in the trunks. This wonderful time in my life also involved years of research and thinking about fun ways to learn through play for toddlers to 2nd graders. The "Play and Learn" activity books came out of this experience for the museum, both based on PTM Traveling Trunk themes and activites - Bugs! and Move It! It was a huge pleasure writing, editing, and seeing the final (surprise!) products.
I am now focusing on my work as a found object assemblage artist, a member of Philadelphia's Dumpster Divers artist collaborative, using tossed-out treasures for telling stories in unique/odd boxes/cases/containers. As a grandmother, all that PTM knowledge is being put into good use! There are still a number of Play and Learn projects in mind with my own design/art/materials ideas....some day - maybe.
This is a very interesting group to be part of! I look forward to reading about the variety of work, interests, dreams, and ideas.
