About Ada E Marcuse
I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, from a German father and a Hungarian mother. I have also lived in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Caracas (Venezuela), and Lima (Perú). Since 1985 I live in Miami, (United States) and I am an American citizen. I am married, have three children (my boys are twins), and eight grand-children.
I have 26 books published until now, plus 40 for the educational market. I have also translated more than 250 books for children, including several of poetry. Among them, the best known are Huevos verdes con jamón, El Lórax, y ¡Oh, cuán lejos llegarás!, from Dr. Seuss, and Porqué Noé eligió la paloma, from Nobel Prize Winner Isaac Bashevis Singer.
I am now working on several other books (yes, I like writing more than one book at the same time...). One of them is of folk tales from the Indian Tribes of the NW Coast. Another will possibly become my first novel for adults, and as always, I am constantly writing poems. When I have enough of them, they become a new book.
I give lectures and workshops in the US and several Latin American countries, and I am a Critique Group Leader for the SCBWI.
I am a Member of the SCBWI, PEN America, ATA and other Literary Societies.
