About Lynn
I’ve noticed that many writers are or have been teachers. I am one of these. But along with teaching Pre-K through age 21 in the realms of deaf/hard of hearing and autism, I am also a mom and now a grandmother who loves children’s books.
I have been drawn to collect children’s books for most my life. Books that once drew my attention because of their illustrations, unique story, or just by the cover fill a bookshelf in my home. I now share these treasures with my young grandchildren.
I frequent publisher’s web sites and blogs to explore the field of writing for children and to familiarize myself with the types of books they have published and the types they now seek. I am an active member of Children’s Book Insider where I have taken advantage of writing exercises and lessons, a member of Scholastic, and most recently JacketFlap! My interest in children’s books has not diminished and is becoming more and more a reality.
As a young mom, my children asked me to make up a story or read out loud in the car rather than listening to the radio. Now as a grandmother, my favorite times are reading and creating stories at bedtime with my grandchildren. Through my grandma eyes, I see moments that went unnoticed as a young mother. My stories are often a result of these.
